I first met Sawyer (and his siblings) in 1990, when his Aunt Robin drove them to Vermont to spend a week with their grandparents. We enjoyed fishing, boating, and swimming in Seymour Lake, playing board games and watching movies. We watched Beetle Juice (Sawyer's favorite move at the time) a million times and laughed every time we watched it. Sawyer had a way of just making you laugh and smile. I have enjoyed watching him grow from a small boy to a man. He always greeted me with that huge smile, a great big hug and a kiss on the cheek. Thank you Sawyer for always being so kind to me. I will miss you. To the Kern family and Backensto family, I am deeply sorry for your loss.

So unexpected. My memories of Sawyer go back many years. He was my student for Sunday School and Confirmation at Kemble Church. He stood out and you just could not help yourself loving him. My husband, Jerry, and daughter, Juliet, have great admiration for Sawyer. During the time in his life when he was a single dad he made every effort to bring his precious children, Lahayla and Hayden, to the Sunday School he and his siblings had attended. That was very special. I am sure his family will miss him very much. Rest assured that not only did you love him but he made an impression on many others, some of whom you may least expect. May he Rest in Peace and enjoy the house of his Heavenly Father. He is remembered. God Bless, Jan Lancaster

No words can express the feelings and memories stirred up by the deeply saddening news of Sawyer's passing. From getting in trouble in middle school together to reconnecting later in life one thing that was always constant for me was his infectious laugh, smile, and love of everything. I hope his family and everyone who continues to feel his presence, hear his laugh, see his smile, or feel a memory, continue to feel the genuine love and positivity he always brought me.

To my brother Sawyer, I loved that you hung out with me a lot especially during Special Olympics. We had a blast playing wiffle balls. I remember when we were in NYC hotel making so much noise and playing around.
