Obituary for Svenning E. (Swanee) Forsman

Svenning E. (Swanee) Forsman, Jr., age 91 of Mantua, NJ, died Friday, February 2, 2007 at his home. A Mantua resident for most of his life, Swanee served in the US Navy during World War II. He was the former commander and finance officer for the Benash-Hilderbrand American Legion Post #305 of Mantua, where he belonged for 60 years. He was retired from employment with DRPA after 35 years and he was a former member of the Mantua Township Veterans Commission. Swanee enjoyed his yard, mowing the lawn, and his basement work shop. Husband of the late Ruth, he is survived by one daughter Betty Jane Cotton and her husband Robert of Mantua; grandchildren Mary Cotton, Robert and Ronald Anderson, Jeff and James Forsman; great grandchildren Jacob, Evan, Sean, James, Sarah, Zachary, Samantha, Brittney, and Jessica; two sisters Madeline Wassman and her husband Dick of Woodbury & Victoria Koenig of Deptford & brother John Forsman and his wife Shirley of Mantua. He was also predeceased by his son, James E. Forsman. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family 7-9 PM Thursday and 10-11 AM Friday at Smith Funeral Home, 47 Main St., Mantua where funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday.
