Obituary for Thomas A Eaton

Thomas A. Eaton, of Woodbury Heights, passed away at the age of 86 on Saturday, July 24, 2021.

Tom was born in Gary, Indiana to Stafford Eugene and Ruth Dale Eaton (née Stout). Tom attended Purdue University as an Engineering major and a member of Purdue University’s Glee Club. He served as a radar school instructor in the U.S. Army, during the Korean War.

Tom began his career working with computers at the dawn of computing era and continued down that path until retiring as a member of NCR’s ATM division.

In his spare time, Tom was an avid gardener, beekeeper, hunter and fisherman. Those who knew Tom knew he could repair just about anything and often called upon him for help.

Tom was a dedicated member of the Methodist Church serving as a Youth Group Leader, Layman, Sunday school teacher and choir member at Wenonah United Methodist Church. During his summers, he relaxed and worshiped with South Seaville Methodist Camp Meeting.

He is survived by his wife Joyce Eaton (nee Gamble), children, Darlene Diglio & her husband Tom, Robert Eaton, Kymberli Marulli, Sandra Eaton, David Eaton & his wife Denise, and Christy Fitzpatrick & her husband Brian and grandchildren, Devin, Ashley, Britani, Jared, Jake, Alexa, Tyler, Olivia, Matthew & Joseph. He was predeceased by his siblings, Karen, James, Dale & Jack.

Family and friends may visit from 9:30 to 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 4 at Smith Funeral Home at 47 Main Street, Mantua Township, New Jersey. Services will be held at 11:00 am. The burial will follow at Wenonah Cemetery.
