Obituary for Walter Joseph "Walt" Hoban Jr.

Walter Joseph Hoban, Jr. of Mantua, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, December 9th, 2020 at the age of 90. He was born on August 23, 1930, to the late Walter Sr. and Mary (Amos). He was raised in Camden, NJ where he met and married the love of his life, Kathleen in 1955 and moved to Woodbury Heights, where they raised their family for 40 years. In 2000, Walt and Kathleen moved to Mantua, NJ. Walt was employed by Bell of Pennsylvania as a PBX Technician and Circuit Engineer and was a member of Bell Telephone Pioneers of America, retiring after 42 years of service. Walt had a love of the ocean, he could be seen in the Wildwood Yacht Basin, on the bridge of his boat, the Lady K, where he would fish for flounder and bluefish. After retirement, Walt and Kathleen enjoyed spending the Winter in Grand Island, FL where Walter enjoyed golf and became the master of the slice. Walt enjoyed 90 amazing, happy years and was proud of his loving Family and will be forever missed.
Loving and devoted husband for 65 years, Walt is survived by his wife Kathleen Hoban (nee Sessa), daughter, Mary Anne and her husband Dr. Michael Keresztury, son Michael and Denise (Kute), daughter Eileen; four grandchildren, Erin (Ronald) Nichols, Sean (Alicia) Hoban, Jacqueline (Ethan Freeman) and Mary Anne “Molly” McCarthy; a brother, John “Jack” Hoban and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Elizabeth "Betty" and her husband Arnold Sklar and sister-in-law Bernadette Hoban (Carr).
Arrangements for the family are private.
