Zygmont M. Zagiel "Ziggy" age 87, of "Oak Valley" Deptford Twp. passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2020. Born in Philadelphia, PA, to the late Zygmont Zagiel and Mary (Kania). He served in the Army during the Korean War. Ziggy worked till he was 75 years old to support his family. He was a "jack of all trades" and could fix anything. from car radios, to building cradles & high chairs for his grandkids and even made holiday decorations that have been passed down through generations. Ziggy coached his children's Little League teams and enjoyed bowling for the Oak Valley Men's Club with his friends. He also loved food and getting scratch-off lottery tickets. He was the most easy going person you'd ever meet. Ziggy was a member of the Oak Valley Athletic Association and Infant Jesus Parish and he attended church every week. He loved his family and would ALWAYS ask his wife Loretta for permission before he did anything. Most of all, Ziggy loved playing with his grandchildren & great grandchildren and making them laugh.

Ziggy is survived by his beloved wife, Loretta H. Zagiel (nee Hepp); children, John and his wife Donna, Robert, Alvin and his wife Jeannine, Mary and her husband Tony, Jeffrey and his wife Kim; grandchildren, Melissa, Leyna, Anthony, Theresa, Allison; step grandchild, Justin; great grandchildren, Jeffrey, Mia, Bryce, Tensley, Zachary, Zoey; and step great grandchild, Andre.

Family and Friends may attend Ziggy's Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am on Wednesday, August 12th, at Infant Jesus Parish at St. Margaret's Church, 845 Third Street Woodbury Heights, NJ. Burial with Military Honors will be at Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Monroe Twp., NJ. As an expression of sympathy, Mass Cards can be purchased or contributions can be made to the Gloucester County Animal Shelter, 1200 N. Delsea Drive, Clayton, NJ 08312. Mr. Zagiel was a coach on my Oak Valley minor league team, and he showed me how to pitch. Truly one of the nicest men I have ever met. Fifty years later and nothing but good thoughts come to mind. Condolences to all.

One of my favorite memories is when Dad took his dog Ziggy to Gino’s to get a hamburger ( which he did often). He purchased the burger and went home. When Ziggy wouldn’t eat the burger, Dad went back to Gino’s. “ I want my money back because even my dog wouldn’t eat this”.
