Obituary for Richard J. Maden

Richard J. Maden age 67, of Mantua formerly of Franklinville and Gibbstown, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at his home. Born in Woodbury, he served in the Army during the Vietnam War and received the following honors and medals: Purple Heart, Army Commendation, National Defense Service, Vietnam Service, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign. After his military service, Rick earned his B.A. degree at Glassboro State College. He enjoyed classic cars, classic rock, driving, and most of all he loved his family and adored his grandchildren.

Husband of the late Catherine (nee Rackus), he is survived by his sons, Richard J. Maden Jr. of Philadelphia, Donavan A. Maden & his wife Stephanie of South Harrison, and Derick S. Maden of Mantua; seven grandchildren, Rachael Dougherty, Bridget Smith, Trevor, Emily, Julia, Alayna & Dana Maden; two brothers, Ernest Maden Jr. & his wife Rosemary, and Robert Maden & his wife Mary; two sisters, Joan Taylor-Kraus & her husband Charles, and Linda Guinaugh & her husband Larry, and several nieces & nephews.

Family and friends may visit from 6 - 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 25th, and 10 - 11 a.m. Wednesday August 26th at Smith Funeral Home, 47 Main Street Mantua, NJ where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., followed by burial with military honors at Gloucester County Veterans Cemetery in Monroe Township, NJ.
