Ed was my Go To

I met Ed through Rich Mapes when Ed and Rich were doing pet sitting in Orlando. Ed and I hit it off immediately, we had that Philly connection (those of you from Philly know what I mean) and we shared a love and devotion to dogs. I trusted Ed with that which was most precious to me, my dogs. But more than that even...he was my go to. I knew no matter what I needed all I had to do was ask and Ed was there. When I started my dog rescue The ARF Shack Ed was my number one volunteer, always there no matter what. I will never get one particular situation. We helped a lady whose daughter had passed away. The daughter had 57 dogs! The dogs had not been cleaned up after very well and the yard had not been picked up in about 5 years. You can imagine what the yard was like!! There was Ed right beside me filling yard bags of decaying dog waste and caring for each dog there with a kind word and a pat. He took care of so many rescue dogs for me I have lost count. He took bites from Mommy Chihuahua and my cat and dealt with the Q who he told me would never get adopted and then ended up falling so in love with him so he took him home to his Mom and made sure that feisty Q had the perfect life. I will also always remember how conflicted he was when the Eagles signed Michael Vick. I told him it was ok, the dogs understand devotion regardless of bad decisions. The ARF Shack and the  dog world has lost a great friend. I have lost a hard to find go to. Ed you will be missed. Sue Hewlings and the ARF Shack pack
