Obituary for Warren D. "Ham" Hamilton Jr.

Warren D. "Ham" Hamilton Jr.
Warren D. Hamilton Jr. (Hambone), age 88, of Sewell passed away Monday, August 21, 2017 at Terraces At Parke Place Assisted Living after a brief illness. He was predeceased in death by his wife, Mildred Hamilton and his first wife Elizabeth C. Hamilton, the mother of his children, and his granddaughter Desiree D. Dottoli.
He leaves behind his three daughters Linda Waple (Steve), Patricia McCarthy (Michael), Penny Kirkbride (James), one niece, five grandchildren, five great grandchildren, one great, great grandchild and many friends.
Born in Oaklyn, NJ and raised in Camden, NJ. The son of Ethel Hamilton (dec.) and brother to Grace Hamilton Howe (dec.). He also lived for many years in Lindenwold and Barnsboro, NJ.
Mr. Hamilton served in the Naval Reserves for 13 years and was a volunteer fire fighter at Lindenwold #2 for many years. He was a retired insurance agent for the Prudential Insurance Company of America. He was a member of the Barnsboro United Methodist Church and the Golden Slippers Club from Blackwood, NJ.
Ham's passion was ALWAYS music. As a young man he played the drums in the Reilly Raiders and the VFW Drum and Bugle Corps. He also had a beautiful voice and sang solos at many Christmas Eve Services and other events. He played the drums and sang with the band called "Party Tyme", sang with "The Silvertones" and the "Pine Barons Barbershop Chorus". He was a fun and full of life sort of guy who loved music and lived his life to the fullest. When he arrived to a family event, the craziness started. Quiet was a word never used to describe him. Ham loved to send everyone his email and Facebook greetings and funny pictures well into his 80's. He enjoyed being a practical joker and there wasn't a Dollar Store that he didn't love. If there was a band playing in the area, he wanted to be there to listen to great music, dance, eat a nice shrimp dinner and have a Jack Daniels on the rocks. He always had a song in his heart and a tune on his mind. All of the grandkids enjoyed playing with Peepop since he was always still a kid at heart. He was our own Peter Pan and we'll all dearly miss him.
Family and Friends are invited to visit from 6 pm to 8 pm on Monday, August 28th and from 9:30 am to 11 am on Tuesday, August 29th at Smith Funeral Home, 47 Main Street, Mantua, NJ 08051. Funeral Services will be held at 11 am on Tuesday. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial to Kid's Alley (a non-profit organization reaching out to inner-city children in Camden & Camden County) at 325 South White Horse Pike, Audubon, NJ 08106, would be greatly appreciated by the family.
