Obituary for Franklin George Magin Jr.

Franklin G. Magin, Jr., age 81, of Wenonah passed away peacefully at home on Monday, November 28, 2016.
Frank “Big Cat” enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with family. He played football for Rutgers University and after graduating served in the U.S. Army 101st Airborne Division “Screaming Eagles.”
Serving his community was important to Frank and he was an active member of the Wenonah Lions Club, American Legion Post 192 and Knights of Columbus. In his earlier years, Frank was a Boy Scout leader, baseball coach and member of the Wenonah Fire Company.
Frank was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and is survived by his wife Claire D. (nee Bierling); children Franklin III (Theresa), James (Gina), Paul (Linda), Laurie Funk (Jonathan); 10 grandchildren Ryan, Rachel, Matthew, Katie, Brandon, Alison, Olivia, Samantha, Elena, Paul; brothers Vernon "Dutch" Magin (Kate), John Magin (Barry); sister "Maggie" Matricardi (Pete); aunt Kay Little, sister-in-law Carolyn Magin and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Franklin Sr. and Dorothy and brother Edward. Family and Friends are invited to visit from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, December 1st, at Smith Funeral Home 47 Main Street Mantua, NJ 08051 and from 9:30 am to 10:45 am Friday, December 2nd, at Church Of The Incarnation 240 Main Street Mantua, NJ. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Friday. Burial with military honors to follow at Wenonah Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Church of the Incarnation, Wenonah Lions Club or American Legion Post 192.
