Son of John and Sophia Benash he leaves his wife of 66 years, Betty Benash (Reeves); his son, Chester & his wife Kathy, his two grandchildren Randi & Stephanie and two great grandchildren, Colton & Hunter. He also leaves his sisters-in-law Elaine Benash & Frances Reeves, his nieces and nephews Daneen DiDominico, Dania Sargent, & Dina Hollingsworth, Robert & Darlene Benash, David, Kevin, & Brian Reeves and many friends.

Fred coached football and baseball for the youth organizations in Mantua making connections that carried through his life. To the end Fred loved sports, watching baseball and football, with his friend Benny, and spending time with his family. In his early years, he worked for the family's business, Benash Liquor store. After graduating from Pitman HS, he worked with the family business then changed to Dealers Liquors as a sales person from which he retired. He met his wife, Betty Reeves, at Pitman HS and they were together for the rest of his life, most recently seen daily holding hands sitting side by side in the sunroom. Although he was a steadfast source of comfort and care to relatives who were ill, his main mission through all of his years was the love of his life, Betty.
