Obituary for Barbara M. Hanrahan (Miller)

Barbara M. Hanrahan, 75 was called home by the Lord on Saturday, October 11th. She is survived by her husband of 55 years – Thomas F., a brother Victor (Bud) Miller in Columbia, MO. Three children, Thomas J. and wife Janet in Lexington Park, Maryland, Paul R. and wife Susan in Farmington, Connecticut and David J. and wife Crystal in Mullica Hill, New Jersey. There are also eight grandchildren, Sara, Ashley, Justin, Shaunessy, David Jr., Nathaniel, Ian and Michael.
Barbara was born in Paterson, N.J., married Tom in 1959 and moved to South Jersey in 1973. In addition to being a stay at home mom, she also worked in a variety of jobs including school board secretary, public library, church secretary but she enjoyed most running, hosting and managing with Tom a Christian retreat center called Chapel Heights Manor in Washington Twp. from 1987 – 1995. Because of medical conditions, Barbara spent the past 20 years as a snowbird in Fort Myers, Florida. There she became a teacher’s assistant in the local public school as well as a county library volunteer. She also hosted several neighborhood home bible studies from the mid 1960’s till this past year and was a significant influence in the lives of many people. Friends and family are invited to share time with the family Friday, October 17th from 1pm to 2:30pm with a service beginning at 3pm at Southwood Baptist Church, 11 Griscom Lane in West Deptford, NJ. In lieu of flowers, contributions are welcomed for the Barbara Hanrahan memorial fund at Southwood Baptist Church.
