Obituary for Carmen C. Feuerborn

Carmen C.  Feuerborn
Carmen Feuerborn age 82, of Mount Royal, NJ died peacefully on December 5, 2023, at home surrounded by his loving family.  Carmen was born in Philadelphia and graduated from Yukon High School in Oklahoma. He went in the Army during the Cold War from 1959 to 1961, where he was a linesman on the Czechoslovakian border.

He was married to his loving wife, Betty (nee Askin) for 58 years and they have four daughters, Rhonda (Mike) Martin, Barbara (Christopher) Lutz, Susan (David) Dunn, and Lori Lynn who died at birth. He was Poppy to seven grandchildren, Michael and Nicholas Martin, Rylee and Reagan Lutz, and Samantha, Ethan, and Sidney Dunn, and great grandson, Carson Rantz.

He worked for the General Services Administration in Philadelphia, Botto's in Mt. Royal, and then E.I. DuPont in Deepwater for 30 years, as a warehouseman, weight master, and train engineer before retiring in 1999.  He worked for Heart Ambulance Service for 2 years and then the Gloucester County Transportation Services as an omni-bus operator from 2002 to 2012 before retiring.

Carmen loved to volunteer. He joined the Mount Royal Fire Co. where he helped to build the first rescue truck.  He was a founding member of the East Greenwich Ambulance Assoc. in 1972 and an EMT for over 30 years.  He served as captain of the squad for 13 years, until the county took over in 2007.

He joined the Honor Guard for the Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery and served until August 2023. He was a member of the ANU Garrison 52 and former member of the Philadelphia Jokers Brigade.

He enjoyed gardening, deer hunting, camping, traveling, taking photos of his grandkids and attending their sports events and plays.  Making chili was his speciality. He loved playing the game Sequence with the grandkids and Poppy didn't always win.

He never gave up on the Eagles, Phillies or Flyers - they were his teams. He enjoyed country music, doo-wop concerts and theatrical plays.

Carmen is also survived by his sisters, Phyllis Rackley, Anita Johnston, and Katie McNeil of Oklahoma, and Mary Heller of Hawaii; brothers, Michael of Kansas, Thomas and Pat of Texas. Also by Georgia Askin of Mt. Royal and Palmer and Leona Askin of Tennessee; many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday, December 11, 2023 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Smith Funeral Home, and Tuesday, December 12, 2023 from 10:30am to 11:30am at the Smith Funeral Home, 47 Main Street, Mantua, NJ where a funeral service will be held at 11:30am. Burial and Military Honors will follow at Eglington Cemetery in Clarksboro, NJ.
