Obituary for Carolyn A. Williams

Carolyn A. Williams, 84, of Pitman Manor, Pitman, NJ, passed away peacefully on Tuesday June 16, 2015 due to complications associated with Alzheimer’s. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Carolyn attended Bartrum High School and later in life, Gloucester County College. She applied her artistic abilities by making and selling doll outfits, dried flower arrangements and her sense of style in her wardrobe. A long-time resident of Mantua, Carolyn raised her family while working at the original West Deptford Bank, Gloucester County College and later the Gloucester County Justice Complex where she held the position of Juvenile Probation Investigator until her retirement. Carolyn was a powerfully positive life force. Her biggest attribute was her dry sense of humor that she shared with a twinkle in her eye. She always had a quick wit that would crack up family and friends. She used her grace and humor as her way of coping with her Alzheimer’s. She liked to tell newcomers to Pitman Manor how wonderful the Pool and Deck were on the fourth floor (there is no pool and deck)! Carolyn along with her partners in crime, Marlene and Gladys, were known as the three amigos and kept the staff at Pitman Manor on their toes. Carolyn was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Edmund, parents Henry and Caroline Farrell and brothers Henry (Hank) and Leonard (Russ). Her legacy of love will live on through her son, Stephen Williams (Chris), daughter, Susan Beatrice (John), grandchildren Andrea Williams, David Williams (Melissa), Shane Beatrice (Katie), and Randy Beatrice and great-grandson, Ryder. A private Family viewing will be held Friday June 19th from 9-10am and Friends are welcome to pay their respects from 10am-11am at SMITH FUNERAL HOME 47 Main Street Mantua, NJ 08051. Service and Christian Burial will immediately follow. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the “Resident Council Associate Christmas Fund” c/o Pitman Manor Resident Council, 535 N. Oak Ave, Pitman NJ 08035.
