Claire Kuhn Sweeten (Rambo)
Claire Sweeten went into the presence of the Lord on June 8, 2018, at Calvary Homes in Lancaster PA.
Claire was born on April 14, 1926 in Woodbury, N.J. to Elwood C. Rambo and Bennetta Truncer Rambo. She is pre-deceased by her 3 brothers; Augustus, Elwood (Bunny), and Benjamin and is survived by her beloved sister, Mabelle R. Wingate of N.J.
Claire graduated from Woodbury High School in June 1943. She graduated from Pierce Business School in Philadelphia. She had a long career with Roberts and Leach Insurance Co.
Claire was a member of First Baptist Church of Woodbury, N.J. She served in the nursery, choir and was member of the J.O.Y. class. Claire loved the Lord and desired to live pleasing to Him. It was there that Claire met Leonard Sweeten.
Claire married Leonard R. Sweeten on June 12, 1948 and they were married for 69 years. They lived in Mt. Royal, N.J for 51 years, and both Claire and Leonard walked to work! She was a loving and devoted wife and mother, keeping the home running smoothly, assisting her husband in the latest plan he might spring on her, and in their later years being a caregiver to him and seasoned Skip-Bo challenger. They moved to Calvary Homes in 2003 and loved living in Amish country.
Claire is the beloved mother of Gayle (Carl) of Corpus Christi, Tx., Gwen (Don), her “special twins,” Gary (Carol) of Monroe, WA and Gregg (Sherry) of Shiloh, IL. She is the grandmother of 13 and great-grandmother of 16. She is preceded in death by her devoted husband, Leonard, beloved daughter Gwen, and caring grandson David J. Foeller.
