Edward William McGuire, Sr. 74, of Mantua, NJ lost his courageous battle with cancer on May 3, 2010. A graduate of West Catholic High School in West Philadelphia class of 1954, Ed retired from Gulf and Chevron in 1994 after forty years of service. He was a longtime member of the Deptford Elks.  Ed was known to many as a coach, athlete, mentor, friend, and dedicated fan for the Phillies, Notre Dame, and the Eagles. He enjoyed spending time at his children’s and later his grandchildren’s sporting events.  Lifelong soul mate of Mary T. (nee McHale) married 53 years. Loving father of Edward Jr. (Annette), Gary (Kathy), Kevin (the late Stacie), Mary Schannauer (the late Tim), and the late Gregory (Sandy). Devoted Grandfather to Kristen, Lauren, Edward III., Katelyn, Kelsey, Timmy Jr., Zack, Trevor, Shannon and Gregory Jr. eldest brother of Joan McCrossen, the late Carol Schultz, Jim McGuire and Ronnie Tarr.  A true patriarch, Ed’s memory will live on through his family and friends.  Relatives and friends may visit with the family Saturday, May 8th, 2010 at Church of the Incarnation, 240 Main St., Mantua NJ from 12-1 PM.  A memorial mass will be held at 1 PM.  In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in memory of Edward William McGuire, Sr. to the Church of Incarnation Building Fund.
