Obituary for Harry J. Amos Jr.

Harry J. Amos Jr. age 91, of Pitman formerly of Mantua passed away on Monday, July 2, 2018. Born in Woodbury, he was a son to the late Harry J. Amos Sr. and Henrietta E. (nee Jones). Harry moved to Pitman in 1956, and retired from Mobil Oil Refinery in Paulsboro. Harry was also active with the Oil Workers Union. In his spare time he loved fishing and hunting.

Husband of the late Dorothy Jane (nee Jones), he is survived by his two daughters, Ginni (Michael) Groody and Susan Lee, four grandchildren, Donna (Chad), Michele (Jared), Danielle (Brian), and Stephanie, six great grandchildren Erin, Keely, Coleman, Chase, Colleen and Campbell. Harry is also survived by sisters-in-law Pearl and Rosemary Amos and Rose Johnson. Harry was predeceased by his brothers Duke, John "Gus", David, and Robert.

Family and Friends may visit from 10 am to 11 am on Friday, July 6th, at Smith Funeral Home, 47 Main Street, Mantua, where a funeral service will be held at 11 am. Burial will follow at Eglington Cemetery in Clarksboro, NJ. As an expression of sympathy, contributions can be made to the Gloucester County Animal Shelter, 1200 Delsea Drive, Clayton, NJ 08312.
