Obituary for Henry "Don" Donne Smith Jr.
Henry Donne Smith Jr. age 87, of Woodbury passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2023. Born in Woodbury to the late Henry Donne Smith Sr. and Holland (nee Paterson), he graduated from Woodbury High School Class of 1955. Don served in the Marines at Camp Lejeune in 1958 and was later deployed to Washington, DC where he was a member of the Honor Guard and US Marine Corps drill team. He married the love of his life, Kathryn E. (nee Fuhrmeister) in 1960. Don was a salesman for H.A. DeHart & Son in Thorofare and later worked in real estate in New Jersey and Maine. He also worked in his retirement at Dick's Sporting Goods. He enjoyed hunting & fishing and was a member of the South Jersey Fly Fishing Club & the Salem County Sportsmen’s Club. Don was artistic and loved painting, wood carving, and making duck decoys. He also loved spending time at his home in Rangeley, Maine.
Don is survived by his wife Kathryn, his son Jeffery D. Smith & his fiancée, Elaine, and three grandchildren Scott J. Kershaw Jr., Kevin Donne Kershaw, John Henry Kershaw and his sisters-in-law, Sandy Wardrop (Tom), and Jacki Stevens (Jean). He was predeceased by his daughter Lauren E. Kershaw & her husband Scott, his brother William E. Smith and sister Betty Jean Hunter.
Family and Friends may visit from 9:30 am to 11:00 am on Saturday, December 2nd, at Smith Funeral Home, 47 Main Street, Mantua, NJ where Military Honors and funeral service will be held at 11 am. Interment is private at this time.
