Our Neighbor, Our Friend

Jan Fuhrer was surely one of the kindest and best of next-door neighbors a young family could have. Shortly after we moved to West Deptford, Jan and Janet moved in. From the beginning, we realized how lucky we were to know them! Jan always shared great stories and advice with us; mostly centered on his grandchildren, his pets, the latest fruits coming in on the ships, flowers/landscaping, and his golf (usually in that order). And always with a smile and a quick laugh. People say you can tell a lot about a person from the reaction of children and animals. This was surely the case with Jan. Our girls were always happy to see him, talk with him, and hear about the latest fruits coming in from somewhere in the world. Our dog, Ginger, would be beside herself to get to Jan for some praise and a simple pat on the head from him! Our hearts are heavy with his loss. But we will always remember, with love and appreciation, his kindness and his enthusiasm. We will miss him dearly.
