Joanne D. Praiss Kursewicz, age 67, of Mantua, NJ passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at home surrounded by family after a prolonged illness. Joanne was an extremely devoted mother to Christina D. Kursewicz, MD, of Fort Lauderdale, FL and beloved wife to Kurt P. Kursewicz. She is also survived by her sister, Monica Senese of Williamstown, NJ, as well as many other family and friends.

Joanne was a very hard worker and intelligent woman, and achieved great success in her career. She received her Master of Business Administration from Monmouth University after graduating from Rutgers University. She retired as a Senior Financial Analyst from Lockheed Martin in Moorestown, NJ after dedicating over 35 years to the corporation.

Joanne’s happy place was relaxing on a warm, sunny beach, spending quality time with her daughter. She enjoyed visiting Cape May in the summer, and going to Florida in the winters. She saw beauty in nature, animals, and all living things. Joanne had a love for the arts and was a beautiful painter.

Joanne faced the challenge of her unfortunate medical condition, Multiple System Atrophy, with perseverance and courage. She always kept a positive outlook and never complained. Despite her physical hardships, Joanne’s mind remained as sharp as ever. She always went above and beyond to help others until her last days. She will be greatly missed by Kurt, her loving husband of over 30 years.

Joanne’s legacy will live on through everyone who was lucky enough to know her, especially her beloved daughter, Dr. Christina Kursewicz.

Family and Friends are invited to visit from 10:00am to 12:00pm on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at Smith Funeral Home, 47 Main Street, Mantua, New Jersey, 08051. Funeral Service will be held at 12:00pm, with burial to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Swedesboro, NJ 08085.
