John B. Rope, Jr., age 45 of Mantua, died Thursday, April 15th, 2010 surrounded by his family.  Born in Woodbury, he had been a resident of Mantua for 18 years.   A graduate of Clearview High School class of 1982, John worked for 20 years as a lab technician for Exxon Mobil in Paulsboro.  He was an avid surf fisherman in NC and enjoyed sports and NASCAR.  John especially loved sports with his daughter. Husband of Cynthia L. (nee Peter), he is survived by his daughter Carly V., his mother Janet Sharpley and her husband Howard J., his brother, James B. Rope and his partner Robert Graham and his beloved dog Jake.  Predeceased by his father John B. Rope Sr.   Relatives and friends may visit with the family from 6 to 9 PM Wednesday at Smith Funeral Home, 47 Main St., Mantua, NJ.  A funeral service will be held at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 51 N. Main Street, Mullica Hill, NJ on Thursday at 11 AM. On Friday at 1 PM you are invited to attend a graveside service at Eglington Cemetery  Clarksboro, NJ.  Contributions in John's memory may be made to the Carly V.
