Obituary for Namrod J "Joe" Hutchinson

Namrod (Joe) Hutchinson, age 88 on May 30, 2015. Husband of the late "Joyce" (nee Maddox) of 44 years and pre-deceased by son James. Mr. Hutchinson was a longtime resident of Barnsboro, since 1938. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Joe retired in 1986 from Mobil Oil Co. in Paulsboro after 39 1/2 years.
He is survived by his son Joseph Hutchinson & his wife Lori of Mullica Hill, daughter Mary Prettyman & her husband Donald of Mantua, son David Hutchinson & his wife Kay of Mullica Hill. Grandsons, Matthew, Chris, Sean, and granddaughters, Lindsay, Jessica, Jamie, Nicole, & predeceased by Leah. Also survived by sisters, Leah, Jenelle, & brother Ken. Many nieces, nephews, grand nieces & nephews, and great grand nieces. Predeceased by brothers, Ed, George, & Tom, his sisters, Anna, Dorothy, Gladys, & Sophie.

He was noted for Annual July 4th Picnics held for the entire extended family that all looked forward to. Joe took abundant joy in growing a beautiful variety of dahlias in his extensive flower garden and had faithful customers who purchased them at a stand by the road in front of his house. Joe was a self taught musician in saxaphone, guitar, drums and played in country western bands around the area. Man of many talents, jack of all trades building houses, structures, stone mason walls- anything to add beauty to his family's homes. Most important thing to him was his family. He loved to be surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and attended all of their life activities.

Family and friends are invited to visit from 6 to 8 PM Thursday, June 4th, at SMITH FUNERAL HOME 47 Main Street, Mantua, NJ 08051. Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM Friday June 5th in Barnsboro United Methodist Church, 677 Main Street Barnsboro, NJ 08080. Burial with military honors will follow at Eglington Cemetery. Donations can be made to Barnsboro United Methodist Church or NewPoint Behavioral Health Care 404 Tatum Street Woodbury, NJ 08096
