Obituary for R. Neil Clement

Robert Neil Clement , 60, of Richwood, passed away on September 29th. He leaves behind his wife of 39 years, Dianne (Seery), children Kelly Lynne and Matthew, grandchildren Brandon and Emily, brother Mark and step granddaughter Ashley Johnson as well as nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Howard & Miriam (Brickner), step mother Alice (Cassaday), brother Glenn “Reds” and step grandson, Jacob Johnson. Neil was a lifelong resident of Richwood. He graduated from Clearview in 1970 and Gloucester County College in 1973. He worked at Eastlack Sons (now Peach Country Tractor) until he retired in 2005. Neil was an avid hunter, fisherman, shooter and NASCAR fan. He was a member of the Mullica Hill Rifle Pistol Club, Louis Reuter Deer Club, Salem County Sportsmen’s Club and Quinton Sportsmen’s Club. He served in many leadership positions for these organizations as well as volunteering for South Jersey Youth Outdoor Day. Neil was a certified NRA firearms instructor and enjoyed teaching others to shoot. He was a great shot. In addition to pursuing his own hobbies Neil supported his children in their activities, including coaching soccer, cheering at swim meets and lacrosse games or scouts. He enjoyed watching Notre Dame football and fishing with Kelly. He and Matt spent many hours competing at shooting clays and hunting. While he loved his children, his grandchildren were the light of his life. He played countless games of War, Memory and Bingo. He loved watching them play baseball, soccer and softball. He also enjoyed teaching them about the outdoors and taking them fishing. Neil had many medical issues the past 7 years but always kept his sense of humor and good spirits. He always had a smile for the nurses and hospital staff. He rarely complained about his aliments and kept a positive outlook. He would often stop by at friends just to say “Hi” and check in. He stayed in touch with friends out of state and was always up for a good conversation. He seldom went anywhere that he didn’t find someone he knew. He was a kind and courageous man and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Relatives and friends may visit with the family 5 to 8 PM Sunday, October 2nd at SMITH FUNERAL HOME 47 Main St., Mantua, NJ and 9 to 11 AM Monday, October 3rd at RICHWOOD UNITED METHODIST CHURCH 104 Richwood Road, Richwood, NJ where funeral services will be held at 11 AM. Interment will be in Eglington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Neil Clement Memorial Fund (PO Box 6, Richwood, NJ 08074). This fund will help family with medical expenses, scholarship funds, and local organizations that Neil supported.
