Obituary for Robert Barger

Robert Barger age 88, of Mantua passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2015. Bob was a life long resident of Mantua and served in the Navy during WW ll on the destroyer escort USS Thaddeus Parker in the South Pacific. He was retired from the Philadelphia Naval Ship Yard working in the 64 shop as a stage worker. Bob was a long time member of the United Methodist Church of Mantua.
Robert is survived by his wife Elda Brickner-Barger, daughter Joyce Duke (Keith), stepchildren, Lee Hoskins (Judy), Kathy Sharp, Robert Brickner, Jr. (Michelle), Steven Brickner (Janelle), step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, and his beloved pet Rusty. Bob was predeceased by his wife, Laura and son, Ray Hoskins.
Family and friends may visit from 9 to 11 AM Monday, January 19th, at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 47 Main Street, Mantua, NJ. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM followed by burial with military honors at Eglington Cemetery. Donations can be made to United Methodist Church of Mantua Kitchen Fund, Lawson-Cox VFW Post 7679, or the charity of the donor's choice.
