Arthur L. Squyres
Arthur L. Squyres passed away on September 30, 2022 in Maplewood NJ. He was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, in 1926, and grew up in Tyler, east of Dallas. He attended the University of Texas and earned his PhD in Chemical Engineering at MIT. His time at UT was interrupted by a stint in the Navy, which he joined after turning 18 in early 1945. There he trained to be a radar technician, and later became a Navy electronics instructor. While at MIT he met his future wife Felicie Faber, and they were married in 1952. He worked for Dupont for over fifty years, leading their development of using computers to model complex physical systems. When his children were younger, he enjoyed backpacking trips with them. He and Felicie took several trips with his brother Weldon and Weldon’s wife Evelyn. He loved classical music, and regularly attended the Philadelphia Orchestra, and more recently the New York Philharmonic. He was a longtime member of Memorial Presbyterian Church in Wenonah.

Arthur’s wife Felicie predeceased him in 2017. His brother Weldon also predeceased him. He is survived by his three children: son Steve, daughter Pam (Steve Horne), son Tim (Tina), daughter-in-law Mary, brother Bob (Nancy), four granddaughters: Nicole (Ben Andrew), Caitlin (James Butler), Georgia, and Quinn, and great-granddaughters Nora and Ada.
