Obituary for Edward L. Glassman, Jr.

Edward L. Glassman Jr. passed away suddenly on July 6, 2012 at Cooper Medical Center with his family by his side.  Beloved husband of Margaret “Peggy” (nee Schnabel),devoted father of Edward L. Glassman III of Lindenwold and David P. Glassman of Stratford.  Edward is also survived by his sister Carolyn MacPherson and her husband Murdoch “Mac”, sister-in-laws, Flora (Karl) Loose, Barbara (Salvatore) DelliGatti, brother-in-laws, Paul Schnabel, William Price and many loving nieces and nephews. Ed had many wonderful friends, especially Renee and Gerald Mckee.  Ed was also a friend of Bill W.  Ed was predeceased by his parents Edward, Anna Mae Glassman, and his sister-in-law Carol Price.  Happily married for 40 years and deeply devoted to one another, they raised two wonderful sons and resided in Stratford for 38 years.  Ed graduated from Collingswood High School in 1969.  He then earned his Bachelor’s Degree in accounting from Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science where he graduated Summa Cum Laude.  Ed was an Enrolled agent, he also worked at PNC Bank in Philadelphia where he was an Assistant Vice President in the Estate Tax Department.  He was the Cubmaster for Cub Scout Pack #222 in Stratford from 1989-1996.  He enjoyed fishing and his annual crabbing trips with his sons.  He was also an amateur magician who loved to entertain, especially at his company’s end of the year tax luncheons.  Relatives and friends may visit with the family 6 to 9 PM Sunday, July 15th, and 9:30 to 11 AM Monday, July 16th, at Smith Funeral Home, 47 Main St., Mantua, NJ where funeral services will be held at 11 AM.  Interment will be in Arlington Cemetery, Pennsauken.  Contributions in Ed's memory may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 225 City Ave.  Suite 104, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004.
