Obituary for Jack Guy

Byron Jack Guy, was a life-long resident of Salina Road in Hurffville.  Born May 17, 1943. This farm was later to become the famous “Jack’s farm”.  Majoring in agriculture at Glassboro High School under the direction of Coach Grodotzski, Jack specialized in growing fancy vegetables and judging milk cows.  He excelled in 4-H activities, always winning top honors. He briefly attended Rutgers University.
The farm was always a busy place with customers arriving to buy fresh cold milk provided by the fine herd of Holstein Cows, and some of the many vegetables the farm grew.  The majority of vegetables raised, washed and hand packed were sold through the Produce Center on Packer Avenue in Philadelphia.
Jack loved farming and the people it brought to his farm.  His favorite pastimes were riding tractors, going to Cowtown, attending farm auctions, and going to country fairs to watch the tractor pulls, all the while conversing with everyone he met. His week wouldn’t be complete without going out with Gloria for a good dinner on Saturday night. Relatives and friends may visit with the family 6:30 to 8:30 PM Friday, Dec.18, 2009 at SMITH FUNERAL HOME 47 Main St., Mantua, NJ. Cremation will be private.
Jack is survived by his mother, Mae E. Goldy of Barnsboro, a brother Kenneth Goldy of Mullica Hill, a sister Cindy Palestini, of W. Deptford, and three nieces, Lisa Palestini, Kristen and Kimberly Goldy, and one nephew, Marc Palestini.
Jack’s most highly prized and well maintained crop were the friends acquired over many years.  Just a short list of Jack’s friends include Charles Zimmerman,a life-long friend and fellow farmer, Monsignor Sharbel Lichaa, and Sister Rafka of Saint Maron’s Roman Catholic Church in Philadelphia, Justin Reed, Gloria Faust, Chris and Joanne Hyland, Art Michaelson, Keith Conley, Kim Mulpin, and many, many more.  In lieu of flowers, Jack’s friends and family request donations be made to National Mustang Assoc., Inc. P.O. Box 1367, Cedar City, Utah 84721. Memories and condolences may be shared at www.smithfhmantua.com
