Evelen Schwoebel (nee Van Fleet), age 85, formerly of Mantua, NJ died on Monday, February 9, 2009. Evelen was born in Philadelphia and grew up in Glassboro. She was a Mantua resident from 1950 through 2004. Evelen retired from Mobil Research & Development, Paulsboro, NJ after more than 25 years of service. She was an avid Phillies fan, loved listening to Frank Sinatra music and was the ultimate beachcomber. Wife of Walter F. Schwoebel (deceased), she is survived by her children Jill Worrell and her husband Tom of Baytown, Texas, Eric Schwoebel and his wife Holly of Raleigh, NC, Susan Kelly and her husband Jack of Murrells Inlet, SC, Laurie Peterson and her husband Larry of Centreville, VA. Evelen is survived by five grandchildren Eric, Brian, Scott, Brie, and Brett and one great grandson, Colin. In addition, she is survived by two sisters, Janice Kiser and Winnie Morse and one brother, Charles Van Fleet.Relatives and friends may visit with the family 9:30 to 10:30 AM Saturday at SMITH FUNERAL HOME 47 Main St. Mantua, where funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
